‘8 crore is enough for me’ – Former RCB Player reveals his IPL 2022 Auction expectations

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who got released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of IPL 2022 Auction, has braced himself for joining a new team ahead of the mega auction in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL).

Chahal made his IPL debut back in 2013 for the Mumbai Indians (MI), but the five-time champions released him ahead of the auction in 2014.

Thereafter, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) picked up the tweaker and he didn’t look back from there on. Chahal went on to represent the Challengers for eight seasons and plied his trade on tough pitches to bowl at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Although he’s mentally prepared to play for a different team, he expressed his desire to play for RCB again. Chahal put forth his opinions while speaking to off-spinner Ravi Ashwin on the latter’s YouTube channel.

Obviously, I want to go to RCB: Yuzvendra Chahal

“It’s the first time where I feel I can go anywhere because there’s no Right to Match (RTM) card. The last time (2018), RTM was available and they (RCB) had told me clearly that they’ll buy me using RTM in the auction no matter what… But this time, seriously, as a professional player, I am ready to go to any team.

“Obviously, I want to go to RCB because I’ve been there for 8 years but it’s not like if I go somewhere else I’ll feel bad because everyone has to make a new team and it’s a major auction where there’s always purse constraints.

“Whichever team takes me, I’ll keep giving my 100%. It will take some time to adjust to a new franchise but that’s why we call ourselves professional players,” he stated.

Chahal, in the meantime, said that he isn’t expecting his auction price to go through the roof. “I don’t want to say that I want 15 crores or 17 crores, you know, 8 cr is enough for me!” Chahal added.

The IPL 2022 mega auction is set to take place on February 12 and 13. The Challengers retained former skipper Virat Kohli, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj. RCB are yet to get their hands on the coveted IPL trophy.
