Amit Mishra hails India’s ‘Test series’ win; fans hail him as Jofra Archer

Former Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra is one of the most revered names in the domestic circuit, and it is quite unfortunate that he didn’t get to reach the heights he should have at the international level. However, he is widely respected for his many exploits with the Delhi Ranji team and various IPL teams. He does, however, have a tendency of being a little cryptic on social media, catching everyone’s attention instantly.

Not long ago, he had congratulated New Zealand for winning the ICC Mens’ T20 World Cup this year, although they lost the final. The tweet came just an hour after the game, so it wasn’t as if he was speculating a Kiwi win. He ended up deleting that tweet and correcting it by congratulating the actual winners.

Mishra did something odd yet again on Thursday. This time, he congratulated team India for registering a series win against South Africa, although what they did was just win the first Test. He called it a “Test series sweep”, which made a lot of fans speculate that he’s doing a Jofra Archer. Over the years, fans on social media have convinced themselves that Archer predicts the future with his tweets, and now Amit Mishra is doing the same.

Here’s what Amit Mishra tweeted.

The prediction made by Amit Mishra, however, doesn’t seem like an impossible scenario after watching the Indian side get such a comprehensive win. They won the 1st Test in Centurion by 113 runs, with terrific performances coming from the likes of KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. There were some underlying fears among fans that rain gods could decline India a win on day five, but that didn’t happen.

India wrapped up things shortly after the second session began on day five, with Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin doing the business for the visiting unit. The second Test will begin on 3rd January in Johannesburg, where the Proteas will be desperate to not lose the series.
