How The Teams are Being Selected?

There is an annual player auction that takes place. There all the players, both Indian and overseas, participate with a fixed base rate. However, during the auction, it depends upon the franchises how much they can go far for the players. When the bidding starts, each team has to take 19 to 25 players for the team. What is The Format of IPL?

There are a total of 8 teams playing in IPL. Each of the teams is representing a city name of India. Like Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and so on. These 8 teams will play two matches against each other, and 14 altogether in the league phase. One match is played in the home ground of that team whereas the other one is away. The Double Round Robin method is being applied here. The last 4 teams on the table will be eliminated and the top 4 teams will qualify for the playoffs. In the playoff matches, the top two teams will play Qualifier 1, which means if any of them lose that game they will get another chance to cement their place for the final clash. On the other hand, no.3 and no.4 teams play the eliminator, and the winner in that game will face the loser of Qualifier 1, in Qualifier 2. The team that wins Qualifier 2, qualify for the final along with Qualifier 1 winner.
