England have named a 12-member squad for the second Test in Chennai and have left out both James Anderson and Dom Bess, bringing Stuart Broad and Moeen Ali to the mix. The absence of Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer also meant Ben Fokaes and Chris Woakes making the cut to the squad.

England secured an incredible win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to go 1-0 up in the series and rekindle their hopes of making it to the World Test Championship final. However, that hasn’t had any bearing on the way they approach their rotation policy, with the team management making four changes to the squad, two of them forced.

Jofra Archer suffered an elbow injury on Thursday and thus ruled out of the second Test while Jos Buttler headed home as already announced. Ben Fokaes is all set to take the place of the latter while one of Olly Stone or Chris Woakes will replace Archer.

Stuart Broad, who has a terrible record in India, averaging over 53, will look to rectify the record but he will need spinners to have an impact in the game. As a matter of fact, Moeen Ali will now replace Bess in the squad and he will take inspiration from his heroics in Chennai four years ago when England last played in India.
