WATCH: When Andrew Symonds made a pitch invader run for his life

With three successive instances of pitch invasion seen in the ongoing England-India Test series, what started as fun has now turned into a cause of anger and worry among the fans and has made them feel the absence of Andrew Symonds on the field.

At Lord’s, Headingley and The Oval, an English fan going by the name of ‘Jarvo’ has breached the on-ground security and went very near the playing arena, disturbing play.

This fan has been banned for life from entering the ground in Leeds and is potentially due to face the same fate from The Oval. The county of Surrey, in fact, have opened up a probe into the security issue after getting Jarvo arrested for his inappropriate behaviour, including a collision with England batsman Jonny Bairstow

What if there was Andrew Symonds waiting for ‘Jarvo’ on the field?

The last instance of invasion was perhaps the most concerning, as the person involved nearly hurt Bairstow by running hard into him. Initially shaping up to bowl a fake delivery at striker Ollie Pope, ‘Jarvo’ bumped into Bairstow, who stood at the other end.

But while the security guards once again dragged the Englishman out of the field, many over social media were left aghast at the breach that was threatening for players of both the countries.

Some went on to suggest that had Andrew Symonds been there to give this fan some just treatment for his inapt behaviour, would he have dared to repeat his act?

Symonds, the former Australian batsman, is known for letting pitch invaders know how much he dreaded their unnecessary presence on the cricket field.

On one such occasion, the Aussie cricketer made one invader run to save his life out of the ground in WACA.

The incident is from a domestic One-Day Cup final between Queesnland and Western Australia. A shirtless man started running around the ground to gain some spotlight but then he was forced to suddenly sprint off the field once he saw Symonds coming his way.

Andrew Symonds almost strangled this person by his neck onto the ground but he somehow evaded and ran away from the fielder, who later even dived to try and grab him from behind.

This is not the first time Symonds did something like this as he once even knocked down a streaker at an Australian venue.

That instance is from an Australia-India ODI game at the SCG during the 2007-08 CB series triangular, including also Sri Lanka.
