WATCH: Ashwin, seething from earlier sledge, gives Morgan a send off after duck

Ravichandran Ashwin was right in the thick of the battle throughout the game, let it be with the bat, ball, or during the war of words. After a heated discussion with Eoin Morgan in the last of the first innings today, Ashwin fought back in the second innings by picking his wicket and gave the KKR skipper a noisy send-off.

Just when things seemed to be moving smoothly for Delhi Capitals, Kagiso Rabada chipped in with a wicket-maiden, sending Shubman Gill back. Eoin Morgan, who came in at number 4 last game ahead of Nitish Rana, walked out to at number 5 with the game well within control.

However, he fell for a duck, edging Ashwin’s straighter-one to Shikhar Dhawan at slips, who made no mistake in completing the catch. Right after that, Ashwin went in hard on the English cricketer while celebrating, almost smearing the “Come ons” at his face. Morgan did not reciprocate and walked back to the pavilion.

Despite some struggles towards the end, Sunil Narine’s 21-run cameo and Nitish Rana’s unbeaten 37 helped Kolkata Knight Riders get over the line in a tricky run chase. There were a few moments in the final quarter of the innings where Delhi seemed to have made a comeback, but Narine negated any potential drama. However, the Ashwin-Morgan face-off caught the majority of the attention.

Ashwin, Southee and Morgan face-off, DK intervenes to stop it

Ravichandran Ashwin and Tim Southee seemed to have a heated exchange of words. Ashwin and Pant had sneaked a run in the previous over despite the ball hitting Pant’s pads at the non-striker’s end in the over prior. Morgan seemed unhappy with the Capitals going for a run.

After Ashwin was dismissed in the final over, Southee and Morgan came out hard at the Indian bowler and Ashwin was not willing to back out. Dinesh Karthik had to intervene to prevent any further discussions between the English skipper and Ashwin.
