Preview

In what is a virtual final in the ongoing Bangladesh tri-series, the hosts take on the mighty Afghans in the Match 6 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Saturday. Afghanistan has won all it’s game so far and look more settled compared to their opponents, Bangladesh, who are still to find their best combination. While Afghanistan’s middle order has done most of the talking, they will be tested by Bangladesh’s new look bowling attack, led by Mustafizur Rahman. Both teams should ring in the changes to give ample game time to all their squad members with the World T20 2020 being the goal.

Pitch Report

Batsmen should be able to play their strokes freely with scores of 160-170 being a common sight at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. Both the pacers and spinners will get ample help with the likes of Shafiul Islam and Aminul Islam revelling in such conditions against Zimbabwe.

Weather Report

There is no threat of rain on Saturday with clear conditions with a few clouds also expected to make an appearance at the ground. Dew might play a factor which could force captains to chase here in this must-win game for both teams.

Injuries: Aminul Islam injured himself in his debut against Zimbabwe, which is the only injury concern in both rosters.

Probable Playing XI

AFG:

Afghanistan should ideally rotate their squad with fringe players, Naveed ul Haq and Sharafuddin Ashraf set to play against Bangladesh. Shafiqullah Shafiq could also get a game although Rahmanullah has been good at the top of the Afghan batting order. With Rashid Khan going strong with the ball, Afghanistan is well served by their middle order with Nabi and Zadran revelling for them over the course of the series and will be crucial against Bangladesh as well.

Hazratullah Zazai, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Najeeb Tarakai, Ashgar Afghan, Najibullah Zadran, Mohd Nabi, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Rashid Khan, Fazal Niazi, Naveen ul Haq and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

BAN:

Aminul Islam is reportedly injured for this game which should pave the way for Taijul Islam to play this third game of the series. The rest of the side should remain more or less the same with Bangladesh looking to identify their best combination. All eyes will be upon Shakib Al Hasan, who is due for a big score this series while their bowling unit looks to continue their good form on Saturday as well.

Nazmul Shanto, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Afif Hossain, Mohd Saifuddin, Mosaddek Hossain, Taijul Islam, Shafiul Islam and Mustafizur Rahman

Top Picks:

Shakib Al Hasan has found himself among the wicket-takers on a consistent basis this series. But the same cannot be said with the bat as he hasn’t scored big runs in any of the matches. He is due for a big score along with Hazratullah Zazai and Ashgar Afghan on Saturday. Bangladesh opener, Nazmul Shanto is also picked in the side along with in-form all-rounder, Mahmudullah Riyad. Rashid Khan is a must have in any fantasy team with his leg-spin troubling the best batsmen in the world over the last year or so. Shafiul Islam and Mohd Saifuddin should do the trick from the Bangladesh roster.

Captaincy Options:

1. Shakib al Hasan
2. Rashid Khan
3. Liton Das
