A batter can sometimes do the weirdest of things on the field. However, during a Cricket South Africa (CSA) Provincial T20 Cup game, Ayabulela Gqamane pulled off something outrageous with the willow in hand. His attempt to find a boundary resulted in him being at the receiving end of one of the most hilarious hit-wicket dismissals we can witness in professional cricket.

In the game between Titans and Knights, Gqamane was batting in the 19th over of the game for the Titans. The batter was trying to get some runs for the side and in the process, lashed hard at a wide delivery bowled by Migael Pretorious. He was deep in his crease and found himself a bit too close to the stumps, as a result, the hard swing of his willow sent the off-stump cartwheeling towards the gully.

He had to make the long walk back to the pavilion after getting out in the most bizarre ways possible. However, it wasn’t the hit-wicket that would’ve upset him, but a fact that the off-stump went flying away to create an image he would never dare to laminate.

Unusual hit-wicket shadows a brilliant win for Knights

The unusual hit-wicket dismissal garnered way too much limelight on social media, so much so that it overshadowed the result of the game. The Knights registered a convincing 6-wicket win with Rilee Rossouw chipping in with a quickfire 73-run unbeaten knock.

The Knights were set a 143-run target to chase, with Dean Elgar registering a decent 43-run knock for the Titans. They are now the table-toppers of Pool B after their dominant victory in their opening contest. The Titans, on the other hand, are languishing at the bottom of the points table after their 6-wicket loss to the Knights.
