Bhuvneshwar Kumar out of IPL 2020 with hip injury

The injury that SRH and India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffered in the game against CSK towards the end has proven to be fatal, with news emerging that the pacer has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2020 Indian Premier League.

Bhuvneshwar was replaced by Siddharth Kaul in the following game against Mumbai Indians yesterday, with the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner stating that he would be missing out on a couple of games. To make matters worse, Kaul went for 64 in his 4 overs, 20 of which came off his last four deliveries of the innings.

“Bhuvneshwar will not be able to take part in this year’s tournament as he has been ruled out with a hip injury. A big blow for sure as he is someone who leads the bowling unit and is also an integral part of the leadership group on the ground,” a source from within the team said.

Bhuvneshwar was bowling quite well this IPL, returning figures of 0/25, 0/29, 2/25, and 1/20 in SRH’s 4 matches so far. With him now being out for the tournament SRH would now have to make a choice between Siddharth Kaul, Basil Thampi, and Khaleel Ahmed to replace him. Among foreign options, they have Billy Stanlake, the tall, lanky Australian pacer.
