The Black Day ODI game will be held in South Africa for the first time as the country hopes to end domestic violence against women and children. South Africa is popularly nicknamed as the ‘Rainbow nation,’ for it’s multi-culturalism and coming together of people from different parts of the world. The country has fought several battles in the past 400 years, after being ruled by the Dutch and the British. The 20th century was dominated by the term apartheid, which involved oppression of the black by the white government.

President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa has set his sights on ending the domestic violence on women and children in his country. This has led to the Black Day ODI initiative being adopted by Cricket South Africa after a call was made by the president on the same. The Black Day ODI game will take place in Durban on January 23 at the Kingsmead stadium where the Proteas women will don the black kit against Pakistan in one of the most anticipated sporting events in the country.
