WATCH: Bumrah-Jansen face off in heated battle after spree of bouncers
Marco Jansen and Jasprit Bumrah might have spent time in the Mumbai Indians dressing room together, but there was little sign of love between the two as they faced off in tense circumstances at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. With South Africa frustrated after the Shardul Thakur cameo, the riled up quicks then had a full tilt go at Mohammed Shami, who was soon dismissed for a duck, and Jasprit Bumrah.
Bumrah did not take lightly and seemed peeved at South Africa’s tactics. When hit on the shoulders, he responded to Jansen by gesturing at the bowler as though he were dusting off the pain from his shoulders.
Jansen didn’t back off either and was soon peppering his former Mumbai Indians teammate with bouncers. Bumrah seemed even more riled up then and gestured further at Jansen, which the left-arm quick did not take lightly. Soon, the players were walking towards each other, prompting the umpires and other players to intervene.

Bumrah was still frustrated after the face-off and soon the South African players, led by Dean Elgar, who was involved in another face-off with KL Rahul last night, were crowding around Bumrah with the umpires separating the players again.
I know watching Bumrah pumped was fun, but just glad he is walking away without an injury.

Bumrah – Jansen is an upgraded version of Sreesanth – Nel episode. Both better bowlers than their counterparts. It’d be quite something to see how Bumrah responds with the ball.

Marco Jansen bouncing Bumrah repeatedly. Hitting him on the body. Jansen has some follow up words. Bumrah has a smile and his happy to chat. But I’m not sure winding up Bumrah is the best plan. Don’t think South Africa’s batsmen will be enjoying this from Marco. #INDvSA #SAvIND

Bavuma said something to Pant, Jansen riled up Bumrah. It’s going to be interesting last innings here. Bumrah with ball and Pant behind stumps. #INDvsSA

Notably, Bumrah received a lot of flak in the England tour for using bouncers generously against the England tail, a tactic many labelled as very unprofessional. Then, James Anderson was at the receiving end of Bumrah’s barrage of bouncers.
Either way, an angry Jasprit Bumrah is bad news for the Proteas who have been struggling with the bat the entire series and in general in recent times.
