Australia have named an 18-man squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against India. It was Cameron Green’s inclusion that headlined the selection news as the 21-year-old Western Australia cricketer earned a maiden international callup.

Green has been scoring truckloads of runs in domestic cricket and has been very impressive over the last couple of seasons. The batting all-rounder has started this 2020-21 summer with a bang as well, scoring a fifty and a mammoth 197 in the two Sheffield Shield games.

Cameron’s domestic form has been outstanding and he has carried it through for Western Australia this summer. As a potential player of the future this is an opportunity for him to be part of the squad and build on his experience,” national selector Trevor Hohns was quoted saying as he spoke highly of Green.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Moises Henriques has also been handed a recall and he returns to the Australian setup after a gap of more than three years. Mitchell Marsh has been omitted from the squad as continues to recover from the ankle injury he suffered during the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Moises is a tremendous cricketer with loads of experience and is a great person to have around the group. His form was extremely impressive in leading the Sixers to the BBL title last summer and he has played well at the start of this season,” Hohns added.

Nathan Lyon, Josh Philippe, Riley Meredith and Andrew Tye, all of whom were a part of the touring party which flew to England in September have been excluded from the squad. The rest of the squad that played against England has been retained.

The entire squad performed exceptionally well in the UK in beating the current one-day World Champions at home and retaining the World No.1 ranking in T20 International cricket. We look forward to a blockbuster summer against one of our greatest rivals,” Hohns said.

SQUAD: Aaron Finch (c), Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins (vc), Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Moises Henriques, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Daniel Sams, Kane Richardson, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa

The white-ball leg of the tour commences with three ODIs with the first one scheduled to be played on the 27th of November at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The three-match T20I series will start on the 4th of December at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
