The first round of Covid-19 test conducted at the Hotel Leela Palace, where the bio-bubble is created for the Indian and English teams, has returned negative results with two more rounds of tests set to take place during the six-day quarantine period.

Even though the English players returned from Sri Lanka via a Chartered plane and was moving from bubble to bubble, there was no leniency in quarantine this time as all players had to undergo a six-day quarantine inside their room.

The same was applicable for the Indian players as well who took a small break after returning from Australia and joined the team bubble on January 27.

All players took a first round of Covid testing which has returned negative but they will take another couple of tests before joining their teammates for practice.

“The SOP is the same as the IPL bio-bubble during the hard quarantine period. We have had one RT-PCR test done already and we would be doing two more before being cleared to train.

That will be monitored by two strength and conditioning experts, Nick Webb and Soham Desai.

India’s Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha, and Hardik Pandya have all been joined by their respective families for the series in Chennai and they revealed so on their social media handles.

“The players have all come back after a grueling tour. Hard quarantine can be extremely difficult and it would only help their well being that wives and children are around which would help them remain in a good head space,” the source said.
