WATCH: Chris Gayle trolls David Warner; hunts for sandpaper in his pocket during T20 WC game

Chris Gayle is one of the most fun characters to have on the cricket field, and if not with the bat or ball, he manages to provide smiles in one way or the other when he is on. During West Indies’ final game of the T20 World Cup against Australia, with the Aussies absolutely cruising courtesy David Warner, the Universe Boss poked some fun at the opener.

As the game was heading to closure, in the 16th over the innings, Gayle went over to Warner and had a chat with him. He was trying to nick something out of Warner’s pocket, who was adjusting his gloves by moving away from the pop-up crease. People on social media reckon it was a subtle dig on the infamous sandpaper scandal he was involved in.

David Warner, alongside his teammates Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft, were banned from all forms of professional cricket for their involvement in the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa. It didn’t seem like the Australian was taking it too much to heart, and they all had a laugh about it.

Here’s the video of that meeting between Chris Gayle and David Warner

Besides this little moment, Chris Gayle did not have much to smile about in what was his last international game for the Caribbean unit. Gayle got off to a brisk start with the bat, scoring a quickfire 15, and with contributions coming from Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell, they managed to get 157 runs batting first. Josh Hazlewood picked up 4 wickets for the Aussies, his second-best figures in the format for Australia.

As it turned out, there was going to be no joy for the West Indian side, or for the South African team who were cheering them for this fixture. David Warner found his good old self in a stellar knock, scoring 89 runs off just 56 balls. His knock included 9 fours and 4 sixes. Australia ended up chasing the target in 16.2 overs, with Mitchell Marsh scoring a fifty.
