Brandon King, the highest run-getter in 2019 along with Chanderpaul Hemraj, seventh-highest run-getter last season, open the batting. The hugely promising Shimron Hetmyer should hold the number three slot. Having already proven himself in ODIs, Hetmyer will want to stamp his authority as a T20 batsman as well.

Hetmyer will be looking to score tonnes of runs for Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL 2020

The middle order will play around the experienced Ross Taylor, who can also be used as a floater. Nicholas Pooran, one of the most exciting middle order batsmen in world cricket at the moment bats at 5.

Sherfane Rutherford and Keemo paul at 6 and 7 will be tasked with the finishing duties. The overseas spinner Chris Green is also a handy batsman at 8.

The spin department will be led by Imran Tahir, the second highest wicket-taker last year, and Chris Green.

With Shadab and Malik missing and Qais being unavailable, the spin attack will definitely face a setback, but with Tahir, Green and the U-19 star Ashmead Nedd, spin bowling lies in safe hands. Kevin Sinclair also comes in as a good backup.

Pace bowling is an area the Warriors might be little concerned about. Keemo Paul, Romario Shepherd and Naveen-ul-Haq will be the first choice pacers, with Rutherford assisting with his slower ones. With no big names in the pace department, these 4 have to step up. The lack of quality backups also adds up to the issue.

Probable Playing XI:

Brandon King, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Ross Taylor, Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, Chris Green, Romario Shepherd, Imran Tahir

Expected Finish in CPL 2020:

Anything less than a top 4 finish will be a disappointment. They have one of the best first choice XI in the tournament and have a very good chance of breaking the jinx and lifting their maiden title.
