Dan Christian has had a very middling IPL season, but on Wednesday he scripted a moment that would likely remain in the memories of RCB fans as he plucked a sensational return catch to send back Jason Roy.

The England opener had given SRH a rousing start against Royal Challengers Bangalore with his 38-ball 44 and it seemed like Roy was in to make a big one when Christian, against the run of play, sent back the opener. Roy smashed back a full length delivery straight at Christian and the 38-year old showed remarkable reflexes to catch the ball just before it hit his stomach.

Unable to hold onto it the first time, Christian got hold of the popping ball in a juggling act to complete a rip-roaring return take that had even Virat Kohli stunned.

Royal Challengers Bangalore, who had already made it to the play-offs spot in the season, experimented a bit with their batting order later in the match, sending out Dan Christian at No.3 after the team lost Virat Kohli early to Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Christian comes off the back of a tough series against Bangladesh with the Australian team and recently spoke of it in a video that the RCB social media handle shared. “It was a pretty tough tour for us over there, the conditions were pretty difficult and we played against a very good Windies and Bangladesh team, it was a good learning experience for all of us, and now looking forward to getting started in the IPL again,” he said. “Everything’s going to start afresh,” Christian had said ahead of the second leg.
