After Cricket South Africa suffered the Covid-19 fall-out that led to one leg of the England tour being postponed, Cricket South Africa are desperate to save their home summer.

England’s tour of South Africa being called off mid-way through the tour was huge for the CSA which was in a desperate financial situation. If the home summer had to be canceled, it will lead to a zero gain from the broadcast fees, meaning further turmoil for the cricket board.

Thus they have taken the most unlikely route to save the series against Australia as discussions are now ongoing to move Australia’s tour of South Africa to Perth with CSA taking the broadcasting fees.

Perth favourable for South Africa time zone

Perth’s western time zone is extremely favorable to South Africa with a day/night Test at the WACA Ground likely to start play between 8 am and 9 am in South Africa. However, even if the series will be played in Australia, Channel 7 won’t be televising it, with the South Africa rights staying with Fox Tel, the paywall channel.
