Faf du Plessis is one of the finest fielders of this generation and he proves it time and again on the field. Once again, to get rid of KKR skipper Eoin Morgan, he pulled off a spectacular catch on the boundary, one that is bound to make a lot of highlight reels across social media.

Skipper Eoin Morgan came in to bat at number four today for the Kolkata Knight Riders and tried to accelerate whenever he could. He played a reverse-sweep and was trying to clear the boundary on occasions. This time he did that off Josh Hazlewood, dancing down the ground to loft it over the long-on boundary.

Morgan did not get hold of it as well as he would’ve liked, but he very nearly cleared the rope, if not the acrobatic brilliance of the South African. One of the best things about this catch was how easy Faf made it look.

He jumped to take the catch right on the edge of the boundary, parried it in the air to balance his body and completed the catch with ease in the end, or it looked so. The Proteas cricketer is well known for taking such catches and he was close to taking one such brilliant catch off Venkatesh Iyer earlier, when he made a lot of ground at mid-on and dived forward, but the top edge from Iyer fell just short.

Here’s a look at that outrageous catch from the 37-year-old.

Interestingly, du Plessis had his knee hurt after attempting a catch earlier in the day and a few social media users pointed out that the South African had blood stains on his pants.

Faf du Plessis looking to make 2021 his best IPL campaign

Ever since he made his debut in the IPL back in 2012, Faf du Plessis has been a very consistent run-scorer for the Chennai Super Kings. However, he never managed to get a 500-run season, with his career-best tally of runs in a season coming in 2020, when he got 449 runs in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Chennai side.

However, having scored 351 runs already this time, the 37-year-old looks well set to cross his previous best tally and make 2021 his best IPL campaign. Some silverware to go with it can make it an incredibly special season for the South African.
