FIR filed against Yasir Shah for alleged involvement in raping a 14-year-old

Pakistani leg-spinner Yasir Shah has been charged on account of rape in Islamabad, as reported by Aaj News in Pakistan. The 35-year-old who last featured in an international match for Pakistan in August 2021, has an FIR against him alongside his friend Farhan for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

According to the report by the Pakistani media house, Yasir Shah had forced the teenage girl to remain quite about it and also demanded her to marry his friend, Farhan. The case has been registered in the Shalimar Police Station in Islamabad as per reports. The accused has not been arrested as yet, and action in that regard will be taken after medical tests are done on the girl.

No further information has been disclosed with regards to the case as yet, but it could have some serious repercussions going forward for the 35-year-old.

It has been a while since the leg-spinner has featured in the shortest format of the game, and has subsequently gone out of consideration from white ball selection. He wasn’t a part of the 2021 T20 World Cup, and with form fading away, he is beginning to go out of consideration in Tests as well. His last Test match came against Pakistan in August, where he went wicketless.
