Glenn Maxwell showed off his class again for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in this year’s edition of the IPL, playing a pivotal knock of 57 from just 33 balls on another dry, sluggish track in Sharjah on Sunday (October 3).

Walking into bat with RCB 68/2 near the end of the 10th over against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), Maxwell made an extremely crucial half-century for his team. The aggressive right-hander looked the most freeflowing batter on show on another challenging surface in Sharjah and helped RCB post a strong total of 164/7 in their 20 overs.

Maxwell’s innings included three fours and four maximums as he took a liking for PBKS’ pacers and spinners both when some would’ve doubted whether he would enjoy batting on the pitch as it was. But the attacking batter adopted just as seemlessly as he had done at Chepauk in India and made a big impact for RCB.

Glenn Maxwell hits Ravi Bishnoi for a gigantic six out of Sharjah

The best of Glenn Maxwell’s four maximums was an incredible hit against PBKS’ most in-form bowler Ravi Bishnoi, whom the right-hander struck outside the ground in Sharjah.

The six came off the second ball of the 15th over in RCB’s innings. Having picked Bishnoi’s stock the ball, the googly, very early, Maxwell went for a big swing of his willow through the mid-wicket region.

Not just the nature of the ball, the Victorian picked the length of it to perfection as well and connected it superbly for a gigantic six.

It wasn’t that the delivery from Bishnoi was well within Maxwell’s arc. The batter had to fetch it slightly from wide of the off-stump. But still, he timed it so well that it kept sailing towards the deep mid-wicket region and went on the roof of the old Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Glenn Maxwell was batting on 21* off 15 balls at the time when he struck Bishnoi for that amazing six. The batter went on to add a further 36 runs to the RCB total facing only 22 more balls whilst he was there.

By the time Maxwell was out caught against Mohammed Shami’s short-pitched ball near the close of the innings, he had propelled RCB to one of the better scores in Sharjah for the UAE leg of IPL 2021.
