India vs England : Crowds not to be allowed for home series

Even though the government of India decided to allow fans to the ground for sporting events, the BCCI has decided against the same to minimize the risk factor.

After the central government directive, it seemed like fans will be allowed to enter the ground for the home series against England and the subsequent IPL, but the BCCI is fearful of the same.

Given all the players will be in a hard quarantine in Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Pune, allowing crowds might risk the bubble, for which it has been decided that fans will not be allowed for the home series.

The Times of India reported the same with a BCCI official clearing the air, even though an official confirmation is awaited.

“The teams will be in hard quarantine. BCCI doesn’t want to take any chance with the home season so close. So, crowds will not be allowed,” the official said.

The returning players from Australia, who have been in the bubble since August, first due to the IPL and then for the Australia series, will be allowed to go home to spend a few days with their family before joining the side in the hard bubble created for them in Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Pune.
