Krunal Pandya, Prasidh Krishna, Suryakumar Yadav Included in India ODI Squad For England series 

Spin all-rounder Krunal Pandya, pacer Prasidh Krishna and batsman Suryakumar Yadav are included in the India ODI squad for the three-match series against England, the BCCI confirmed on Friday (March 19). 

The three players have earned their India selection on the back of consistent performances in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy, the country’s premier domestic List A competition. 

Pandya finished as Baroda’s top run-getter for the tournament with 388 runs from his 5 innings at an average of 129.33 and had a strike-rate of 117.93. He has been picked as a potential replacement in the playing XI for first-choice all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is still recovering after thumb surgery.

Krishna took 14 wickets for Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with an average of 22.21 and had an economy of 5.44. The fast-bowler has always been on the selectors’ radar for his tall stature and express pace. 

Suryakumar is the other beneficiary of consistent domestic performances as the selectors gave him maiden ODI call-up to face England. The right-hand batsman made 332 runs for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with an average of 66.40 and had a strike-rate of 151.59. 

Besides those three, India have also brought back Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar to their ODI squad and removed Manish Pandey, Mayank Agarwal, Sanju Samson from the team that faced Australia in the previous series in November last year. 

Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also back in the team after proving his form and fitness through the T20I series. He will be leading the pace attack in absence of Jasprit Bumrah (rested) and Mohammed Shami (injured). 

Pune will host the three ICC Super League fixtures on March 23rd, 26th and 29th, respectively.
