With a plethora of injuries hitting the Indian team during the course of the Test series, the visitors decided to rest it’s pacers from the training session ahead of the final Test at the Gabba in Brisbane which commences from January 15. The series stands level at 1-1 after some brave batting by Vihari and Ashwin who dead-batted almost everything thrown at them during the last day of the SCG Test.
However, India is finding it difficult to keep it’s players fit and their main objective to is to atleast have 11 fit players for the Gabba Test. An Indian spokesperson had revealed that no pacer took part in the training sessions on Wednesday, however he offered no insights into the Bumrah injury. The BCCI and the team management have decided to stray away from commenting on the Bumrah injury.
There have been reports that Jasprit Bumrah has suffered an abdominal injury which will keep him out of the fourth Test match in Brisbane. In case, Bumrah does not make the playing 11, either of Shardul Thakur or T.Natarajan are in line to be handed their Test debut.
Siraj and Saini had made their Test debuts in the second and third Tests respectively after the senior bowlers, Shami and Umesh Yadav suffered series-ending injuries. The duo were sent back to India to begin their rehabilitation program. Before the start of the tour, Ishant Sharma was ruled out. If Jasprit Bumrah misses the final Test, India’s chances of sealing the series in Brisbane becomes a little less.
