IPL 2020: Chennai Super Kings v Royal Challengers Bangalore – Probable playing XI and team news

After a poor batting performance against the Kolkata Knight Riders that led to their fourth defeat in this year’s IPL, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would desperately look to turn things around when they face the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) later tonight.

Last year, after being humiliated by CSK in the opening match at Chepauk, RCB claimed victory after the two teams played out a thriller at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore later on in the tournament. Batting first, RCB set a target of 162 for CSK to win with the help of a steady half-century from Parthiv Patel and 20s from AB de Villiers, Akshdeep Nath and Moeen Ali.

In reply, CSK seemed to be down and out at 83/5, having just lost a well-set Ambati Rayudu. but a tour de force from skipper MS Dhoni took the game to the last ball with 2 required for a victory for CSK. Unfortunately, Dhoni, having smashed 24 off the over until then, could not connect, and Parthiv Patel threw down the stumps to beat a diving Shardul Thakur trying to steal a bye.

Despite the inability to chase down targets in this year’s IPL, the Super Kings have looked a rather balanced side, which has been bolstered with the return of Dwayne Bravo. Therefore, it is unlikely that there will be any tinkering to their playing XI.
