IPL 2020: CSK vs DC Game Plan 3- Should DC play Amit Mishra or Sandeep Lamichhane?
CSK vs DC – The sixth match of the IPL 2020 tournament between the blockbuster teams, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals, could all be about match-ups. We take a look at a key game plan that could play a role in the sixth game of IPL 2020 – CSK vs DC.
CSK vs DC – Can Delhi play a leggie vs CSK?
CSK are an RHB-heavy batting unit. They have just two southpaws in their batting line-up: Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja. CSK could promote them – especially Curran – to encounter leg-spinners like they have been doing. But, that’s not enough. This kind of promotion is quite volatile – batsmen may or may not come good. You cannot bank on them a lot.
CSK batsmen are vulnerable against leg-spinners. Even though Faf du Plessis is a decent player of spin, and Watson is also quite good when set, the others don’t inspire a lot of confidence. Only Watson scores at a good rate against leg-spinners – and he dons the aggressive mode after he gets set.
In IPL 2020, Dubai has been quite fruitful for the leg-spinners or spinners in general. The batsmen have found it hard to score runs at a good rate, and have failed to protect their wickets as well.
However, DC didn’t have a leg-spinner in their previous playing XI. Thus, they need to draft in a leg-spinner for this match. They could bring in either of Amit Mishra and Sandeep Lamichhane. Mishra could be bought in Mohit Sharma who leaked 44 runs in the previous game. Whilst Mishra has not been at his best in recent times, he has not been bad either.
Mishra has a terrific record against Shane Watson, the most dangerous CSK batsmen when set. Conceding just 28 runs since 2018, the leg-spinner has got out the Aussie four times in 21 balls. Thus, bringing in Mishra, especially for Mohit Sharma, is not a decent call.

However, if they don’t want to play Mishra, they could bring in Sandeep for Nortje. Lamichhane was quite good in the CPL 2020. However, if they drop Nortje, they will have just Mohit and Stoinis – among pacers – to partner Rabada in the death overs.
