The last time these two teams met was at the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam last year in the eliminator. SRH posted a total of 162 for 8 off their allotted 20 overs in the 1st innings, with only Martin Guptill and Manish Pandey registering scores of 30 or more and Keemo Paul taking 3 wickets for DC. In reply, DC chased the total down off the penultimate delivery of their innings with the help of a half-century from Prithvi Shaw and 49 from Rishabh Pant.

Kane Williamson had said during the SRH-KKR encounter that he is fit and available for selection. His exact words to the commentators were, “We have had a lot of time off, the opportunity to get into the gym. We always deal with these little things and try to get on top of them sooner. Yeah, available (when asked if he’s available for the next game), ready.”

“I guess it’s always the balance between the players you want to pick, the areas you want to address, and the surfaces that you are presented with and the opposition,”  he added.

Other than Williamson’s availability, Vijay Shankar, who ‘tweaked his back’ and missed out on the previous game, might return in place of Wriddhiman Saha, whose 31-ball 30 batting at 4 did not help the Sunrisers’ middle-order batting woes. Manish Pandey suffered a blow to his hand while fielding in the KKR game, but noti=hing serious has been reported on that.
