IPL 2020: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Rajasthan Royals – Probable playing XI and team news

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), after their thrilling win over the Mumbai Indians in their last game, will take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR), who were humbled by the Kolkata Knight Riders in their first game in Dubai in this year’s IPL a couple of nights ago, this afternoon in the 2020 IPL’s first doubleheader.

We have seen 3 occasions of an RCB-RR clash being washed out, with the most recent instance of the same taking place on the previous occasion of these two teams meeting each other. There was an effort to sneak a five-over game in after Bengaluru’s weather showed inconsideration in terms of letting the match take place, but a result was not meant to take place.

RCB v RR: Head-To-Head

As mentioned earlier, the rivalry between RCB and RR has been marred by washouts, with matches in 2011, 2015, and 2019 returning no results. Other than that, the Royals enjoy a 10-8 lead over the RCB, their most recent win coming in the first game between the two sides last year. RCB, put in to bat, posted 158 on the board, thanks to a half-century from Parthiv Patel and late cameos from Marcus Stoinis and Moeen Ali. RR chased the target down with 7 wickets and 1 ball to spare, with Jos Buttler getting a fifty and Steven Smith and Rahul Tripathi guiding them home, the former staying unbeaten till the end.

Team News – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Chris Morris is working his way back to fitness having suffered a side strain, but RCB would not want to rush him back in the scheme of things. Therefore, it is very much likely that Adam Zampa, who was hit to all parts of the park by Pollard in RCB’s previous game, will retain his place in the side, along with Sri Lankan bowling all-rounder Isuru Udana. RCB might want to consider bringing Parthiv Patel back in the side in place of Gurkeerat Mann to offload the glovework duties from AB de Villiers.

Probable XI: Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli (c), Parthiv Patel (wk), AB de Villiers, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal, Adam Zampa

Team News – Rajasthan Royals (RR)

News has emerged that Ben Stokes will be flying from Christchurch to join the Rajasthan Royals side. Although he won’t be available for a couple of games, his arrival will do a world of good for the Rajasthan Royals’ middle-order. Coming to today’s game, the Royals might want to reconsider inserting Yashaswi Jaiswal back in the top-order in place of an out-of-sorts Robin Uthappa alongside bringing in a little more experience in the middle-order, bringing Manan Vohra in for Riyan Parag.

Probable XI: Yashaswi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler (wk), Steven Smith (c), Sanju Samson, Manan Vohra, Rahul Tewatia, Tom Curran, Shreyas Gopal, Jofra Archer, Jaydev Unadkat, Ankit Rajpoot
