RCB vs KKR Game Plan 1 – Chris Morris, RCB’s new death-over specialist?

It is a well-established fact that RCB’s death-bowling woes go way back. Since 2018, the Bangalore bowlers concede 12.1 runs an over and a boundary every 3.66 balls, both respectively the worst among all other teams.

The return of Chris Morris in the previous game augurs well for the franchise; he conceded just 19 runs in his allotted four-over quota, and picked up 3 wickets towards the end of the innings, ticking two boxes – not giving away too much, and getting wickets. In Sharjah, he will have his work cut out for him, as they are against a KKR side who have been the fastest scoring batsmen in the death in the past three seasons.

In the two RCB-KKR fixtures in 2019 RCB suffered two Andre Russell onslaughts, one of which resulted in an insane loss, and another that took them to the brink of defeat. Fortunately, in Chris Morris, RCB finally have someone who has the upper hand against so many different KKR batsmen.

It is understandable that batsmen would score relatively faster, given that Morris primarily bowls in the Powerplay and at the death. However, conceding just 10.3 runs an over to Russell, along with dismissing him on three occasions is quite an extraordinary feat. Add to that his record against Dinesh Karthik, the KKR skipper as well as Nitish Rana, he will be vital for RCB at the death in the small (bowlers nightmare) Sharjah stadium.
