IPL 2020: Rajasthan Royals v Delhi Capitals – Probable playing XI and team news

Rajasthan Royals (RR) are set to play their last game at Sharjah in this year’s Indian Premier League tonight, when they take on the Delhi Capitals (DC). While the Rajasthan Royals have gone 3 games without a victory going into tonight, conceding defeats to KKR, RCB and MI, the Delhi Capitals have lost only one game in this year’s IPL so far, the loss coming against SRH in their third game.

Delhi Capitals triumphed in both the encounters between the two teams last year, winning the away game by 6 wickets with 4 balls remaining thanks to an excellent opening partnership between Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan and an unbeaten 78 from Rishabh Pant. They then completed the double over RR at the Arun Jaitely Stadium 2 weeks later,  winning by 5 wickets thanks to three-fors from Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra and another half-century from Pant.

In the 11 editions of the IPL that the two teams have been a part of, Rajasthan Royals have a slim lead in terms of victories over the Capitals. The Royals have won 11 out of the 20 matches being played, their last victory coming in 2018 in a shortened encounter.

Team News – Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Robin Uthappa was dropped in favor of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the Royals’ previous game. Despite the left-handed opener not making an impact in the opportunities that he has been bestowed with, the Rajasthan Royals management would definitely want to back the talented youngster. All-in-all, Rajasthan Royals are most likely to go into the game without any tinkering to their playing XI.

Probable XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler (wk), Steven Smith (c), Sanju Samson, Mahipal Lomror, Rahul Tewatia, Tom Curran, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Ankit Rajpoot, Kartik Tyagi

Team News – Delhi Capitals (DC)

Although the Delhi Capitals have not named a replacement for leg-spinner Amit Mishra, who was ruled out of the tournament after suffering an injury to his finger in the game against KKR, the way Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin have been performing with the ball, the thought of adding a replacement for Mishra is now secondary for the Capitals. They, too, are very much unlikely to make any changes to their XI.

Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje
