Table-toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR) take on the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 12th game of the 2020 Indian Premier League tonight. Both teams will be massively upbeat after victories in their previous games, with Rajasthan Royals pulling off a stunning run-chase against the Kings XI Punjab at Sharjah in their previous game, chasing down 224 with 3 balls to spare.
The last time the two teams faced each other was at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Put in to bat, KKR set a target of 176 for the visitors to win, mainly thanks to a captain’s knock of 97 from Dinesh Karthik. With contributions from almost every batsman in their top 7, RR chased down the target with 3 wickets and 4 balls to spare.
RR v KKR: Head-To-Head
The rivalry between the Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders is probably the most evenly matched in the IPL, with both teams registering 10 wins each against each other in the 20 matches played between the two sides since the inauguration of the T20 League. While RR were champions of the IPL in its first year, KKR have gone on to lift the trophy twice since then. The two teams were involved in the first super over of the IPL, with Rajasthan Royals emerging winners.

Team News: Rajasthan Royals (RR)
Rajasthan Royals’ top 3 of Jos Buttler, Steven Smith, and Sanju Samson will have to be wary of Sunil Narine, who has an excellent record against the trio. But it is unlikely that the Royals would want to tweak their playing XI from the last game, although there is a chance of slight changes to the batting order.
Probable XI: Jos Buttler (wk), Steven Smith (c), Sanju Samson, Robin Uthappa, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Tom Curran, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Ankit Rajpoot, Jaydev Unadkat
Team News: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Similar to the Royals, the Kolkata Knight Riders would not want to make any changes to their winning combination. Although it is not ideal to have Sunil Narine open the batting any longer, with someone like Rahul Tripathi waiting in the wings, Narine’s contribution with the ball is unparallel to anyone despite him losing a bit of his flair due to the modifications in his bowling action, and KKR would have to drop either Nitish Rana or one of the Indian bowlers to accommodate the Ranchi-born opener, something that seems to be unfeasible at the moment.
Probable XI: Shubman Gill, Sunil Narine, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy
