IPL 2020: RR vs SRH Game Plan 3 – Will Rashid be the difference?

RR vs SRH – The fortieth match of the IPL 2020 tournament between the teams, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, could all be about match-ups. We take a look at a key game plan that could play a role in the fortieth game of the IPL – RR vs SRH

The last time these two sides met, a fearless and improvised Rahul Tewatia took the attack to Rashid Khan in the 18th over of the chase to turn the game in RR’s favor.

Having bowled really well till then, Rashid was Warner’s bet to put the final nail in the coffin during the chase but Tewatia’s onslaught made sure things go exact opposite to SRH’s plans. Going into the second encounter between the two sides, Rashid Khan will be eager to get the act right and not let the opposition off the hook.

How have RR batsmen fared against the Afghan spinner?

IPL 2020: RR vs SRH Game Plan 3 – Will Rashid be the difference?

Rashid Khan has an impressive record overall against the RR batsmen, especially the overseas trio of Stokes, Buttler and Smith. Buttler in particular has been quite vulnerable against Rashid, getting dismissed thrice in just 8 balls in IPL. With Buttler set to bat in the middle order, the battle becomes even more interesting as it will be him up against Rashid in a phase where the spinner prefers bowling.

Smith and Samson need to shield Buttler from Rashid so that the English wicket-keepr can capitalize on the remaining bowlers. Warner will look to keepRashid’s overs intact till Buttler arrives at the crease.

With almost half of his deliveries as googlies, Rashid has relied on the googlies as his wicket-taking option while using his leg-spinners to check the flow of runs. 7 of his 11 wickets have come off googlies, something which the RR batsmen must be mindful of. They can play it smart by using the right-left combination better and using Tewatia a little higher in the order.
