A struggling Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) outfit will be taking on an inconsistent Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side in the latest clash of this year’s Indian Premier League. While KXIP are coming off a ten-wicket thumping to the Chennai Super Kings, SRH fell 34 runs short of the target of 209 set for them by the Mumbai Indians earlier the same day. Both sides won a game each against each other last year, KXIP winning the first one by 6 wickets and SRH winning the second one by 45 runs.

Prithvi Raj Yarra had been called up to replace Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who had to be ruled out of the tournament due to an injury to his hip. With the amount of pace and bounce that Yarra generates, it remains to be seen whether SRH opt to play him ahead of Siddharth Kaul, who went for 64 runs in his last game, albeit playing at a smaller ground.

Kings XI Punjab definitely need to focus on their batting order and death bowling. While the pair of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul have been successful at the top of the order so far, big-hitters such as Nicholas Pooran or Glenn Maxwell have gone underutilized. Chris Gayle, one of the best T20 batsmen of all time has been warming the bench all this while.
It would do them a world of good if KXIP either promote Pooran up the order or play Gayle in place of Maxwell at the top. With Pooran given the responsibility of glovework in the previous game, slightly indicating that the KXIP want to utilize more out of the Trinidadian left-hander, Glenn Maxwell is the likelier candidate to make way.
