IPL 2020: Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals – Probable playing XI and team news

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the first of the two IPL clashes today. While SRH thumped KXIP in their last game, RR are coming off a poor defeat to the Delhi Capitals at Sharjah.

Both teams won their home matches against each other last year. The two teams first met at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal in the 8th match of the IPL last year, in which SRH chased down 199 on the back of an excellent 100+ run opening partnership between David Warner and Jonny Bairstow.

The two teams then met 37 2019 IPL matches later at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur, where RR romped home by 7 wickets chasing 161 with 5 balls to spare.

These two teams have possibly played the least number of matches against each other among current IPL teams. In the 11 encounters between the two teams since 2013, SRH have won 6 and RR 5. SRH did the double over the Royals the year before last year, winning both at home and away.

Team News – Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have finally seemed to find the ideal combination of players going forward. The middle-order, which was circumspect for a reasonable amount of time, has started to find some solidity with Priyam Garg in good nick and Abdul Samad providing some firepower towards the end.

Team News – Rajasthan Royals (RR)

The much-anticipated return of Ben Stokes in the Rajasthan Royals squad will do them a world of good. Having Stokes in the XI would boost their middle-order immensely, and will provide a very productive 5th bowling option. Andrew Tye is the most likely candidate to make way for the talismanic England all-rounder.

Probable XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler (wk), Steven Smith (c), Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Mahipal Lomror, Rahul Tewatia, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Kartik Tyagi, Varun Aaron
