SRH vs RR Game Plan 1 – The Answer to the Rashid Khan threat
SRH and RR come into this match with contrasting records. SRH lost their first two matches, but have won three of their last four and are currently third on the points table. RR after winning the first two matches have lost 4 on the trot and are struggling to stay afloat in this season. Things will not get easier for the Royals, as they run into Rashid Khan, who will be high on confidence after match-winning figures of 4-1-12-3 against Punjab.
Rashid Khan has a great record against most of Rajasthan’s key top-order batsmen. Sanju Samson has faced him on 5 occasions in the IPL and hasn’t been dismissed once, albeit at a strike-rate of less than run-a-ball. Captain Steve Smith has lost his wicket once in 3 innings and at a scoring rate of 4.36 runs an over, while Royals’ maverick Jos Buttler in the IPL has been dismissed in all the 3 times they’ve faced each other.
Clearly, three of RR’s top four have struggled against the Afghan super-star, none more so than Jos Buttler. But there are two players in the RR setup who have a fantastic record against Rashid Khan – Robin Uthappa and Manan Vohra. Although this success came in 2017, the confidence of picking Rashid’s variations would be vital.
Robin Uthappa seems out of the picture as of the moment; he failed to impress in the four opportunities he got. Manan Vohra might come into the side to counter this threat, in place of the other opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Although talented, the young left-hander hasn’t been able to get going thus far, and might result in added pressure on Jos Buttler.

Jos Buttler vs Rashid Khan in all T20s
In a previous match between these sides, SRH used Rashid in the Powerplay as a match-up against Jos Buttler, who has a clear weakness against Rashid Khan. However, having someone who has dominated him previously at the other end might ease the pressure off Buttler and allow him to target the remaining pacers in the SRH attack.
