CSK vs DC, 10th April: Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will clash in the second match of the Indian Premier League 2021. The fixture will be played at the Wankhede Stadium on April 10. Delhi Capitals finished as the runner-ups last season, as they failed to defeat Mumbai Indians in the finals. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings endured their worst season, as they failed to make the playoffs for the first time in franchise’s history.

Shreyas Iyer, regular skipper of DC was ruled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury he picked up during the ODI series against England. As a result, Rishabh Pant was appointed the captain after his stellar performances for India in the past few months.

Prithvi Shaw is coming on the back of an incredible domestic season, and he is expected to open the batting alongside Shikhar Dhawan. The left-hander was the second highest run-scorer last season, and will hope to do well this year as well. Ajinkya Rahane will bat at number three, whereas, the skipper, Rishabh Pant will come in at number four. The left-hander was outstanding with the bat in the past few months, scoring runs in all three formats of the game for India.

Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetymer will bat come in at number five and six respectively. Stoinis had an impressive tournament last season, where he delivered with both bat and ball. Axar Patel will miss the first game due to a covid-19 positive test, whereas, Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada are still serving their time in isolation.

In the absence of the feared South African bowling duo, Umesh Yadav and Ishan Sharma will feature in the playing eleven on Saturday. They will be assisted by Chris Woakes who will play ahead of Tom Curran. Ravi Ashwin and Amit Mishra will lead the spin-bowling attack for the Capitals.

Suresh Raina returns to IPL action after missing the last season

Chennai Super Kings: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C/wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir

Ruturaj Gaikwad won three consecutive player of the match awards towards the end of last season, and he is expected to open the batting alongside the experienced, Faf du Plessis. MR.IPL, Suresh Raina returns to action after missing the last edition of IPL due to personal reasons. The left-hander will bat at his regular position at number three, with Rayudu coming in at number four.

MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran will complete the batting lineup for the three time champions. Jadeja returns to action for the first time since December, where he suffered a concussion in the first T20I against Australia. Dwayne Bravo is expected to lead the bowling attack for Chennai, with Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar being the Indian pacers.

Imran Tahir, who won the Purple Cap in 2019 will be the side’s leading spinner on Saturday. Krishnappa Gowtham and Moeen Ali are also in the mix to feature against Delhi Capitals, but given that the Wankhede pitch offers more assistance to batsman, MS Dhoni is likely to play just two spinners.
