Kieron Pollard had a weird moment during Mumbai Indians’ do-or-die game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Caribbean cricketer was adjudged LBW, in a decision that looked as plumb as one could possibly think of to the naked eye. Siddarth Kaul‘s straightish delivery nipped inside just a little to catch Pollard off-guard, right in front of the stumps.

It seemed like the ball would be crashing the middle-and-leg, and the onfield umpire Virender Sharma was quite certain he was out. He raised his finger and upon a very optimistic and let-go-for-it deliberation, Pollard hesitantly went upstairs to get it checked. After watching no bat involved in the replays, Pollard started walking back and it seemed like their hopes were all drained.

However, the ball tracker brought a smile on everyone’s face. A fact that Kieron Pollard is 6 ft 4 inches tall sometimes can be forgotten, but when the ball hits the top of his knees, it more often than not goes above the stumps. Much to the surprise of everyone involved, from the batters in the middle, to the bowling side, Kieron Pollard survived although it wasn’t the most fruitful aftermath for Mumbai later on.

On a day where Mumbai Indians had to climb Everest and also condense it, herculean efforts were needed. Pollard, a cricketer who has chipped in with many such knocks for Mumbai in the past, failed to do so on this occasion.

Here’s a look at Kieron Pollard walking off, and returning after watching ball-tracker

Ishan Kishan delivered a stunning knock for the Mumbai Indians, to get their side going. He chipped in with a world-class innings for the side, scoring 84 runs in just 32 deliveries. His innings included 11 fours and 4 sixes, and was an exhilarating ride while it lasted. He was dismissed inside the 10th over, and despite Mumbai losing their way a bit after that, they managed to mount a decent total.
