KS Bharat played a match-winning knock against the Delhi Capitals in the final group game, but struggled to get going in the Eliminator against Kolkata Knight Riders. Adding insult to injury, Bharat very nearly got his captain Virat Kohli in trouble but Lockie Ferguson’s throw from close range being slightly away from the keeper allowed Kohli to save himself.

Virat Kohli’s reaction said it all

Kolkata Knight Riders had picked up a wicket off the final ball of powerplay, and were keen on adding pressure instantly on Bangalore once the field restrictions were off. Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal had sneaked a lot of singles in the first six overs and in that rush, Kohli tapped it towards short mid-wicket and attempted a quick single.

Bharat, who walked forward a couple of steps at the non-striker’s end, turned down the single from his skipper on second thoughts. Kohli, who turns 33 in less than a month, sprinted almost halfway and had to track back at full speed to get in. However, Lockie Ferguson did not chip in with the best of throws from close range, which gave the Indian skipper that extra second to get back in the safe zone courtesy of a big dive.

The Andhra cricketer looked guilty instantly and offered his apology. But since there was nothing to worry about, Kohli moved on and Bharat escaped the deathly glare.

Here’s the video of the mixup between KS Bharat and Virat Kohli

KS Bharat, who chipped in with a 52-ball 78 to win the hearts of RCB fans, struggled to get going on the slow Sharjah track. He attempted some big shots but miscued most of them. He could manage only 9 runs on the day and faced 16 balls. He finally perished attempting to unleash a big shot off Sunil Narine, but was caught at long-off by Venkatesh Iyer.
