IPL 2021: Probable Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Playing XI For UAE Leg

The Sunrisers Hyderabad are known for their consistency and fantastic team management, but this season, all of that has gone for a toss. Some of their stalwarts not scoring runs, middle-order virtually absent, not able to get over the line on most occasions and a change in captaincy mid-season – All of this led to the side losing six of their seven games, almost ruling themselves out of the playoff fight.

For the Sunrisers, the breakage in season turned out to be very timely. Just when the dominoes were finishing their fall, this interruption gives them a recuperation chance. Having said that, the task at hand is a little too tough to complete.

They will be without one of their star men in Jonny Bairstow, who has decided to rest himself for the T20 World Cup. David Warner might be back in the XI, but is expected to play under Kane Williamson’s captaincy. The mathematical possibility keeps Sunrisers alive this season, but a fairytale comeback cannot be completely ruled out.

SRH Probable Playing XI: David Warner, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Kane Williamson (C), Manish Pandey/Kedar Jadhav, Sherfane Rutherford, Vijay Shankar/Kedar Jadhav, Abdul Samad/Abhishek Sharma, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Khaleel Ahmed/Sandeep Sharma

Sunrisers Hyderabad Playing XI Composition:-

Batsmen – David Warner, Kane Williamson (C), Manish Pandey/Kedar Jadhav, Sherfane Rutherford

David Warner is expected to make his way into the side in the absence of Bairstow, and responsibility on his shoulders will be ever so huge. Kane Williamson bailed the Sunrisers out on a couple of occasions last season from losing positions and he is well equipped to chip in with big knocks. Sherfane Rutherford solves a huge problem in the middle order and might find a place instantly.

Manish Pandey has been subject to great criticism and scrutiny in his time at the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has struggled to keep going this season and was dropped for a game during the season. There is a possibility for Kedar Jadhav to come in, if the Pandey experiment fails again.

Wicket-keeper – Wriddhiman Saha

Wriddhiman Saha will be the first-choice pick for the keeper’s role, now that Bairstow is not a part of the squad. He might open alongside Warner and will play the aggressor’s role, to allow Warner the time to settle in and find his rhythm. He failed to get any decent scores in this season, but had a stellar finish to the last season, scoring some important half-centuries to take SRH into the playoffs.

All-rounders – Vijay Shankar (pace), Abdul Samad (spin)/Abhishek Sharma (spin)

This is the area where Sunrisers might struggle as the tournament progresses. Abdul Samad has shown promise but requires a couple of decent scores to keep his place in the side, if not, Abhishek Sharma might swoop in. Vijay Shankar, with his off-cutters and medium pace, can be a useful prospect in UAE, just the way he turned out to be last time.

Bowlers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar (pace), Rashid Khan (pace), T Natarajan (pace), Sandeep Sharma (pace)/Khaleel Ahmed (pace)

Rashid Khan picked up 10 wickets in 7 games for his side.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan pick themselves in this side. Two of their most potent weapons in the lineup, any miraculous Sunrisers comeback will depend on their performances. Natarajan will make his way into the lineup having missed some games earlier due to an injury. One among Sandeep Sharma or Khaleel Ahmed will fight for that final slot in the bowling department, but they might start with the latter.
