Rishabh Pant is one of the most jovial cricketers in the current Indian team. His fun-loving nature often keeps the spirit of the Indian side during the long wicket-less session in Test matches and is always a talking point on social media. Although he is the captain of an IPL franchise now and a contender for Indian captaincy in the future, he remains a similar presence.

Ahead of the second qualifier between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, which is a must-win game for both sides to book a berth against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2021 final, Pant was at it once again. The 24-year-old teased umpire Anil Chaudhary with a trick that teenagers would be doing in their school and college days.

He tapped him on his right shoulder and immediately moved towards his left, and Chaudhary was left with a smile on his face. This incident happened just before the toss took place between both sides, which was won by Eoin Morgan and the Kolkata Knight Riders chose to bowl first. Kolkata defeated Bangalore in a thrilling encounter a couple of days ago, whilst Delhi went down to Chennai.

Ahead of this must-win clash, Delhi, who are still chasing their first trophy, needed a little upliftment and Pant provided that to the fans with this moment.

Rishabh Pant to be retained by Delhi for next season?

With plenty of teams already banging their heads over who should be retained and who they should let go, Delhi Capitals are one of the teams with a bigger headache. They have a pool of world-class talents in Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, and Shikhar Dhawan among Indians, whilst talented South African speedsters Ainrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada are contenders as well.

However, Rishabh Pant will be the first player to be retained in an ideal scenario. He is the franchise’s highest run-scorer and age factor plays in his favour more than any other player. Delhi might want to frame their future with him as the centerpiece to their jigsaw.
