Ahead of the IPL Auction on February 18 in Chennai, the IPL GC have announced that a total of 292 cricketers are set to go under the hammer from the 1114 cricketers who had initially registered for the auction.

The mini-auction for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League will take place in Chennai and for the same, initially, 1097 players had put their names. However, upon request from franchises, 17 new players were added, with the final set having 292 players from various parts of the world.

The list contains a total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players, and 3 players from Associate nations with former CSK players Harbhajan Singh and Kedhar Jadhav being the only two Indian players who have chosen the highest slab of INR 2 Crore as their base price.

Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy, and Mark Wood have also registered themselves in the same bracket with as many as 12 players opting for the next highest slab of 1.5 Cr.

The 1.5 Cr list includes the likes of Alex Hales, Alex Carey, Dawid Malan, Morne Morkel, Gregory Lewis, David Willey, Tom Curran, Shaun Marsh, Adil Rashid, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Jhye Richardson, and Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Sreesanth not part of the shortlist for the IPL auction

Despite publicly speaking about his ambitions for a comeback to the Indian Premier League, Kerala pacer S Sreesanth who had set his price at INR 75 lakh, is not a part of the list. Meanwhile, Arjun Tendulkar made the cut with a base price of 75 Lakhs.

The IPL Auction will begin at 3 PM and after player no.87, the accelerated process will cover all the unpresented players and unsold players, with the unpresented players appearing first.

Uncapped Afghanistan left-arm leg spinner Noor Ahmad, who recently featured in the BBL for Melbourne Renegades, is the youngest player in the auction pool. Nagaland leg spinner Khrievitso Kense is the youngest Indian in the pool.
