IPL to commence from September 19, final on November 8

Indian Premier League (IPL) chairperson Brijesh Patel confirmed that the T20 League is set to begin on the 19th of September, with the final being held on the 8th of November.

As per reports earlier, the entire tournament is set to be held at the United Arab Emirates, for which the BCCI have acquired clearance from the Indian Government this morning.

The schedule for this year’s edition of the IPL, whose commencement has has been on hold since the 29th of March.

The Emirates Cricket Board will be all set to host the mega T20 league. Earlier, Emirates Cricket Board secretary Mubashshir Usmani was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo, “We are ready to fully support the IPL if it chooses to come and play in the UAE. We will provide all the support concerning the protocol and government permission required to host the IPL. We are waiting for written confirmation from BCCI.”

The teams are expected to start preparing for the tournament one month prior to its commencement, not just for training, but to adhere to the quarantine rules in the UAE. It is very much probable that the entirety of the tournament will be played behind closed doors.
