Ishan Kishan found himself in a very awkward position in the Mumbai Indians dressing room a little time ago, when he encountered the demigod Sachin Tendulkar by surprise. A classic student vs principal moment occurred in the Mumbai camp, that brought about some chuckles not just in the dressing room, but also on social media.

Ishan Kishan, being the typical stylish youngster he is, entered the dressing room before a practice session with his goggles and backpack, alongside his AirPods, suggesting he was listening to music on his way. The youngster moved on in the dressing room and kept his belongings in his place. As he turned around, he noticed a little late that Sachin Tendulkar was right there watching this young cricketer making his cool entry.

Upon watching Sachin, Ishan got a little embarrassed and intimidated, immediately removed his goggles and said “Afternoon, sir”. Sachin being the nice guru he is, responded very nicely but the student-principal tension was palpable between the two. Kieron Pollard and Jayant Yadav, who were placed right next to Kishan, burst into laughter and the entire dressing room took note of it.

Mumbai Indians released the video on social media as a part of their regular engagement activities, and this moment in the video managed to hog a lot of limelight.

Here’s that hilarious incident, where the schoolboy inside Ishan Kishan came out.

Ishan Kishan desperate to prove a point

The young Indian cricketer made his international debut earlier this year, after a sensational IPL campaign in UAE last season. He has been a pillar in the Mumbai Indians middle order and that merited him a place in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup. However, ever since the team was announced, his form dipped and his selection has been in jeopardy ever since.

He scored just 107 runs in 8 innings this edition, at a below-par average of 13.38. His strike rate, which is under 100 as it stands, does not do justice to the talent he is. He was dropped in the last game by the Mumbai Indians, but is expected to cement his place once he regains his touch.
