WATCH: Jasprit Bumrah bowls unplayable deliveries to Pope and Bairstow; leaves them in shock

India’s ace quick Jasprit Bumrah reached the first major milestone in his Test career on Day 5 of The Oval Test against England. Having bowled a fantastic spell in the period prior to the lunch break, Bumrah had his just rewards with the wicket of Ollie Pope, which was his 100th scalp in whites.

The great moment saw the unorthodox right-arm speedster breach the still fresh batsman’s defence with an absolute beauty of a delivery that went on to dislodge the off and middle stump.

It was a sharp and skiddy inswinging ball delivered from the over-the-wicket angle, which Pope couldn’t get his bat down in time to. Bumrah’s class was there on display as he made yet another batter look helpless following a dismissal.

Jasprit Bumrah now the fastest Indian pacer to 100 Test wickets

With Pope’s wicket in the 65th over of the England second innings, Jasprit Bumrah not only got the No.100 under his bag but also became the fastest Indian pacer ever to do so.

The paceman jumped over the legendary Kapil Dev to now hold the record after only 24 Tests. Kapil, the former India skipper and inspirational all-rounder, had taken the 100th wicket in his 25th Test.

Irfan Pathan (28 Tests), Mohammed Shami (29), Javagal Srinath (30) and Ishant Sharma (33) are the other notable names part of the list.

Pope would’ve felt disappointed to be at the receiving end of such a ball from Bumrah very early into his innings. Batting on 2, it was only his 11th ball at the crease and England required their promising young batsman to hold an end while they desperately search for solidity in hope to salvage a draw.

In his next over, Jasprit Bumrah also got Jonny Bairstow out bowled with a spectacular yorker, not even letting the wicketkeeper-batsman open his account.

It was another reminder that when Jasprit Bumrah is fit and firing, there is no batsman in the world good enough to stop him.

The ball also showed the bowler’s smarts as Bairstow didn’t seem to have expected the yorker so early into his innings and was undone by a peach that he really could do nothing about.

That wicket reduced England to 146/5, which was turned into 146/6 by left-arm Ravindra Jadeja, who, just like Bumrah, has been largely brilliant for India in the all-important fourth Test.
