WATCH: 4, 6, 4 โ Jasprit Bumrah the batsman takes charge; smashes helpless Sam Curran
After facing criticism for a below-par performance in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand, Indiaโs premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has looked like a rejuvenated player in the ongoing first Test against England at Trent Bridge.
Bumrah, who was the only specialist pacer from either side to go wicketless in Southampton a month back, regained his rhythm and form on Day 1 in Nottingham and delivered a fantastic spell of 4/46 to help India dismiss England for a modest 183.
The ace quick got the important wickets of Rory Burns and Jos Buttler earlier in the match and then came back strongly to wrap up the English tailenders Stuart Broad and James Anderson.
The unorthodox right-arm seamer found prodigious swing in the air and seam off the helpful Trent Bridge surface to make life extremely difficult for English batters and tilted the scales in Indiaโs favour.

Walking in at No.10 with India 232/8, only 49 ahead of England and looking to stretch their lead to more significant proportion, Bumrah batted with admirable determination in the early part of his innings before taking calculated risks that came off.
He targetted Englandโs young all-rounder Sam Curran in the 82nd over of the innings, hitting him for a four through mid-wicket region and then smashing him for a maximum over the deep square leg fieldsman. On the next ball, Bumrah was fortunate to survive a genuine a nick off Curranโs bowling, which flew over the first slip and gave India another crucial boundary.
Jasprit Bumrahโs invaluable cameo took Indiaโs lead to 95 runs and reinforced the improvement in his batting. Fans who follow the Indian team closely would remember Bumrah making his an impressive maiden first-class half-century late last year on the tour of Australia.
