WATCH: Kane Williamson’s funny dance with Jason Roy after claiming Venkatesh Iyer’s catch
Kane Williamson is known for his calm and composed presence on the field. You will hardly see him getting angry in tense situations or breaking out into outrageous celebrations after winning matches. But there have been some rare occasions when he has diverted away from his familiar behaviour and one such instance was during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.
SRH had set a target of 116 to chase for KKR on a tough wicket and the Williamson-led side was in the search for early wickets to put the KKR batters under pressure. That was when Jason Holder gave them a much-needed breakthrough in the form of Venkatesh Iyer as the southpaw mistimed the ball while going for a big shot.
It was Williamson who claimed the catch in a safe manner even though the ball went up quite high in the air. The catch was terrific as he caught it despite moving backwards and even after losing his balance. But what attracted the attention of the viewers more than the catch was Williamson’s reaction after taking it.
The Kiwi skipper got up and broke out into a funny dance with England batter Jason Roy, the meaning of which was probably familiar only to the duo.
It was really a funny moment as Williamson had never been seen celebrating or doing something like this before today.

SRH tried pretty hard to defend the total but ultimately it didn’t turn out to be enough. KKR chased down the target with two balls to spare. Shubman Gill was the top scorer way 57 runs to his name, whereas Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik made valuable contributions of 25(33) and 18*(12) respectively.
