CSK set to release Kedar Jadhav ahead of IPL 2021 auction: Reports

Chennai Super Kings had a disastrous IPL 2020 season as they finished on the seventh spot in the group stage. They failed to reach the playoffs for the first time in their past 11 outings. However, the MS Dhoni led CSK team ended the season on a high, winning three consecutive matches.

The franchise is set to invest in young talent as it thinks of off loading some of it’s players including Kedar Jadhav. CSK had secured Jadhav’s services in the IPL 2018 auction for Rs 7.8 crore. However, in the last season, many questioned his place in the team after below average performances and a relatively poor strike rate.

Jadhav scored just 62 runs in eight matches in IPL 2020 at a strike rate of just 93.33. There were times when the all-rounder did not accelerate even when the required run rate was steaming up, which provoked huge anger from the CSK fans.

A source close to the CSK team management told InsideSport that the franchise is looking forward to investing in young talent and release the 35 year old, Kedar Jadhav ahead of the IPL 2021 auction. “Jadhav was not in best of form in IPL 2020. He was also struggling with his fitness. CSK will move on from Jadhav in IPL 2021, everyone in the team management feels that it will be prudent to take this hard call and invest in future,” the source said.
