AUS vs IND: KL Rahul ruled out of Test series with wrist injury

KL Rahul has been ruled out of the remainder of the Test series against Australia after suffering an injury in practice.

A statement from BCCI said that Rahul had  “sprained his left wrist while batting in the nets” on Saturday and that it would take “three weeks time to recover completely and regain full strength.”

India have been hit by a plethora of injuries during the Test series. First, it was Mohammed Shami who was injured in the first Test match and Umesh Yadav was injured during the Boxing Day Test match. Umesh Yadav suffered a calf strain whereas Shami was hit on the right hand.

KL Rahul became the latest addition to this growing list of injuries. He will now join the likes of Shami and Umesh Yadav at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for rehabilitation. Although, KL Rahul did not play a part in the opening two Tests, it will bring down India’s bench-count of specialist batsman only to two, Prithvi Shaw and one of Mayank Agarwal or Hanuma Vihari. The return of Rohit Sharma to the squad will in some way offset the loss caused by Rahul’s injury.
