There was literally nothing to separate these two teams, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans in the last PSL season as they finished bottom of the pile with six points each. With the addition of new players like Chris Lynn, Ben Dunk for Lahore Qalandars and Rilee Rossouw, Moeen Ali and Imran Tahir, both teams will be hopeful of a much better season this time around.

Interestingly both Multan and Lahore lost matches against the touring MCC side a few days ago and this would come as a concern. While performances in practice matches should always be taken with a pinch of salt, the fact that Multan had the likes of Rilee Rossouw and Wayne Madsen and still suffered a massive 72-run loss doesn’t reflect well for the PSL team.

AccuWeather has predicted a 40% chance for rain during the morning hours on Friday but there shouldn’t be massive threat to the match being a full 40-overs affair. Overall, some pleasant weather could be prevalent during the game with a temperature of 13-degree celsius.
Pitch Report
Although the tracks for the two T20Is were on the slower side, batting-friendly surfaces are expected through this PSL. Also, the fact that this first match will be played under lights will result in all ball skidding onto the bat nicely. Watch out for due too.

Chris Lynn: After missing the previous season due to injury, Chris Lynn would be hoping to make a big impact in this year’s PSL. The Aussie batsman did pretty well in the recently concluded Big Bash League by scoring 387 runs in 14 matches.
Haris Rauf: While Lynn had a decent BBL campaign, Haris Rauf turned out to be an even bigger match-winner for Melbourne Stars who finished as the runners-up this year. In 10 matches, the quick bowler picked up twenty scalps while he also did well for Pakistan in the T20I series against Bangladesh.
Multan Sultans
Rilee Rossouw: The former South African batsman Rilee Rossouw will be an invaluable addition for Multan Sultans. Multan did well to acquire given the fact that Rossouw had been one of the most consistent players in the PSL while representing the Quetta Gladiators. Rossouw also had a terrific Bangladesh Premier League campaign wherein he ended as the leading scorer with 495 runs.
Imran Tahir: The wily old leg-spinner will be one of the most important players for Multan this season. The fact that Tahir picked up 17 wickets in the Mzansi Super League shows that he is still one of the best T20 bowlers going around in world cricket right now.
