Lucknow confirmed as venue for India-South Africa Women’s series
After a long tussle that involved as many as four cities to be the host for the India vs South Africa Women’s series, Lucknow has finally got the hosting rights.
The Indian Women’s team are out of action for as long as a year now, with the World T20 final being their last appearance with an Indian jersey. Even though they played a showcase Women’s T20 Challenge, an international series remained elusive.

However, that is set to change with international women’s cricket returning to India with a series against South Africa women who just played a series against Pakistan women. After Kerala lost the rights due to the non-availability of the Greenfield Stadium, now Lucknow is set to host the event.
“It is true that the UPCA (Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association) has been allotted the women’s series against South Africa and all the eight games will be played in Lucknow,” Shreyans Kartikeya, UPCA’s senior manager – cricket operations, confirmed to Cricbuzz.
As per the report, the matches will start from March 7 with an ODI with the remaining matches to be played on March 10, 12, 14, and 17 with three Twenty20 Internationals slated to be played on March 20, 22, and 24.
Teams to assemble in Lucknow this series
According to the report, the teams have been finalized already and it will be announced after a formal announcement of the venue. Meanwhile. South Africa will arrive at the center this week as the Visas have already been procured.
