Watch & Listen: Marais Erasmus’ hilarious comment to Indian players caught on stump mic

Marais Erasmus is known to be one of the finest in the business, not just in terms of getting his judgment right, but also towards giving some hilarious moments to the players and viewers. He is one of the best when it comes to on-field conflict management, who tends to ease up things with his demeanor.

With tempers flaring aplenty during the second Test between India and South Africa, the 57-year-old umpire had to intervene on plenty of occasions. With the Indian bowlers missing the outside edge and generating some close LBW calls, he was called into action plenty of times on Day 3 and when the Indians appeal, they make sure they put pressure on the Umpire.

Marais Erasmus, however, is a senior professional with a fantastic experience of dealing with such pressure, and after an over on Day 3, he was caught saying “You guys are giving me a bloody heart-attack every over, man” at the end of an over when the Indian slip cordon, which includes stand-in skipper KL Rahul, were changing ends.

Here’s the video of that hilarious moment provided by Marais Erasmus

There were plenty of other not-so-sporting incidents during the game on the third day when the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Marco Jansen kept going after each other. The young fast bowler kept the heat up with some spicy bouncers and glares, which infuriated the Indian bowler and the duo exchanged some words. Both of them played for the Mumbai Indians together this season in IPL.

It doesn’t seem like Jansen and Bumrah’s chapter is over as yet, and Marais Erasmus might be called into action once again if Bumrah gets a chance to bowl to Jansen. The last time the Indian bowler was infuriated this way by James Anderson, he had a go at the veteran English bowler with some pretty scary bouncers.
